Welcoming all new players: Students and Adults

The Williamsport Community Band welcomes players of all ages who are interested in finding opportunities to learn, grow, and enjoy putting their musical talents to work. As an organization, we strive to provide a friendly, open atmosphere where anyone can enjoy playing challenging music. Our musical repertoire includes original and well known works of all difficulty levels. 

What you can expect

There are no auditions, fees, dues, or other requirements to join the band, only a desire to be challenged and rewarded with rehearsing and performing with a wide array of talented and dedicated musicians. With a current membership of over 60 musicians, the band is a standard concert band with orchestration for all brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Rehearsals are held on Sundays at 2:00pm. 

Students

The Williamsport Community Band is a nonprofit organization that can help you fulfill your required Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. Counting rehearsals and performances, a student can expect to record 20 or more SSL hours per concert season. More importantly, participating in the Williamsport Community Band alongside dozens of musicians from all ages and professions is proof that "band" is not just a class you take in school, but a passion you can continue to enjoy for the rest of your life. Parents are also invited to attend and watch rehearsals.

Getting Started

The easiest way to join the band is to stop by a concert or rehearsal. Ask any member or look for our Director and say hi. Bring your instrument if you like and you can sit in that day, or feel free to just watch or learn more.
