Re-Introducing the Jazz Band

The Williamsport Community Band is excited to bring back the Williamsport Community Jazz Band. Directed by Bryan Detrow, they will be bringing a classic, big band style swing to the stage once again. Featuring members of the Community Band alongside other local talents, the Jazz Band will be playing standards from the likes of Count Basie, Buddy Rich, and Sammy Nestico.

Their debut performance is set to be at the Washington County Public School Music Department's, "Swingin' in the Park". This concert series will feature jazz ensembles from Washington County High Schools, and the Williamsport Community Jazz Band is honored to participate. Come out and enjoy this fine, free concert on Saturday, May 3rd, at Doubs Woods Park in Hagerstown. (More details coming soon)

Jazz Band Director, Bryan Detrow

Bryan Detrow has served as the director of the Jazz Band since fall of 2024. Bryan was born and raised in Washington County and joined the Community band when he was in 6th grade. A 2018 graduate of Williamsport High School, Bryan attended West Virginia University, earning a degree in Music Industry in 2021 while playing in the Jazz studio and big band. Most recently, Bryan completed his Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport in September of 2024.

Bryan has worked in CRM marketing for 4 years and has been a long standing member on the Community Band Board of directors.
